FMM Sarawak Highlight Issues In Sarawak Investment And Trade Dialogue

On July 17, 2008 FMM Sarawak participated in the Sarawak Investment And Trade Dialogue held at Hilton Kuching.
FMM Sarawak highlighted 3 issues in the dialogue namely :-
a) Review of the cabotage Policy
b) Consider a form of rebate to LPG users in Sarawak
c) Review of the high SESCO tariff
FMM Sarawak Given 1 FREE Display Booth At SMIDEX 2008 For Its Members
The Ministry Of Industrial Development (MID) Sarawak has agreed to sponsor 10 booths under the Sarawak Pavilion to the upcoming SMIDEX 2008 exhibition scheduled on June 4 – 6, 2008 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Kuala Lumpur.
FMM Sarawak was allocated 1 FREE booth at the upcoming SMIDEX 2008 exhibition this June 4 - 6,2008. Members who are interested to display their products or services are advised to contact the secretariat as soon as possible. As spaces are limited it will be on a first come first serve basis.
Ir Michael Hii Ee Sing is new vice-chairman of FMM Sarawak Working Committee
Effective November 30, 2007, Ir Michael Hii Ee Sing, Group Executive Director of Yung Kong Galvanising Industries Berhad was selected by the FMM Sarawak Working Committee to replace En Cho Yew Kay, SCIB who retired.

Courtesy Call cum IPMC Presentation to YB Andy Chia, ADUN of Pujut, Miri
In view of the effort to establish an Industrial Park Management Committee (IPMC) in each industrial estate throughout Malaysia, FMM met with YB Andy Chia on October 25, 2007 to brief the YB on the roles and functions of IPMC which will be implemented for Kuala Baram and Piasau industrial estates. Among those present was YB Andy Chia (ADUN of Pujut), En. Ahmad Azrai (Sarawak MITI director), En. Ismail Hashim (SMIDec), En Ahmad Shanizam (Matrade), En. Lawrence Lee and En. Law Chu Yang (FMM Northern Regional Committee) and En. Farrez Teh (FMM Secretariat)
 
Cost Of Doing Business In Sarawak
FMM Sarawak did a survey on the cost of doing business in Sarawak as compared to other states in Malaysia. A copy has been sent to members and those who wants a soft copy can contact the secretariat with the FMM membership number.
Meeting On Electricity Tariff And Related Issues
In a meeting chaired by the Permanent Secretary of MID, Dr Ngenang Anak Janggu, FMM met with the SESCO delegation led by its Chief Operating Officer, Mr Danice Endawie Ita to discuss on the current high increase in industrial electricity tariff and high capital contribution by SESCO. Minutes of the first meeting held on September 6, 2007 is available for members. Those interested can contact the secretariat for a copy.
FMM Sarawak Northern Regional Committee 2007/2008
This is a regional committee that comprises of Bintulu and Miri area. Local issues in Bintulu and Miri will be handled by this committee
FMM Pays A Courtesy Visit To Mayor of Miri City Council!
The FMM Northern Regional Committee led by its Chairman, En Yeo Joon Chiew, CMS Cement Sdn Bhd together with En Lawrence Lee, Sealink Shipyard Sdn Bhd and En Law Chu Yang from Piasau Slipways Sdn Bhd paid a courtesy call to the mayor on July 10, 2007.
